And, a partridge in a hare tree

Sorry, couldn’t resist it. 

While I was back taking more photos of hares, I managed to get a photo of another of our skittish creatures very close up.  The red-legged partridge. Lovely birds of the open grassland.  mostly seen at a distance and / or scuttling away from you.  I understand these birds were introduced for hunting (like the pheasant).  I understand that these birds are still bred and released annually (like pheasants) but are considered introduced residents because they also bred in the wild.
