The blog has been quiet for a few months but its feeling a bit more like spring today so here is a nuthatch from today to enjoy.  Taken in my local woodland. The bird was kind enough to strike a pose for me.  (More likely, it was keeping a wary eye on me.) 

Notes:  Yes, the photo is a real ‘as found’ photo in our woods.  The rather attractive lichen covered branch does look a bit too much like a set; it’s not, it’s part of a mostly growing mature tree though this lower branch that has died back.  Camera: D500 with 300mm f/4 PF lens an 1.4 teleconverter (420mm).
