Heron or Egret
December 6, 2024After a few weeks of thick grey overcast weather (again), we got a decent morning (hear of yet another named storm) to get out and take some pics. The reason was to try and photograph a great egret at ‘the dog walking pond. We first saw this (well then, there are two) a few days ago. I was quite excited because this is the first time we have seen this bird at ‘our pond’. I’ve seen them a few tines elsewhere in Britain and even in africa (a lot) but this was a first locally. They were scrapping with a grey heron before (they are a very similar size) but they are still about one of the cleared pools on the marsh at the edge of the pond and we have seen them in the same are since.
So today we went up to the pond, and yes we saw both egrets and I got a photo of a grey heron…
Hopefully, we will get to take a photo of the egret next time but grey heron is not a bad day!
Gear. Oh yes, new camera a Nikon Z8 with the 500mm f/5.6 PF. Nice!
