Great White Egret
December 15, 2024As you may have guessed from my last post, I have been keeping an eye out for our new residents and yesterday it was a bit of a brighter day. And here is (one of) the Great White Egrets at our local pond (there are two in the area. If they stay, it could be a bit of a win for this local conservancy. There has been quite a bit of work done to th1s wetland areas over local years snd very recently it has been cleared of constricting vegetation to make the streams less full of choking vegetation. I’m fairly sure this may also intended to reduce local food risk too.
I still have quite a bit of photo work to do on these two egrets and it sounds like they are making a name for themselves as I met a couple of other photographers who had heard on the grapevine that there were big white herons on the pond (easy point of confusion as white heron = egret). So I hope to take more but they are in a conservation area behind fences so patience and long lenses are needed.
