I’ve just got back this morning from a 17 day trip to Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.  Most of the time we spent on an extended safari through the Okavango region of Botswana.  A quite extraordinary journey and a real eye-opener.  

As I am now faced with something of a ‘pile’ of images to catalogue and edit, this is little more than a taster and a placeholder.  I’ll be adding a lot more content in the next few days and weeks but will headline that on this blog page.  For the moment though, for those with me on the trip, here are a couple of photos of the Lilac Breasted Roller.  Some might say I developed a bit of an obsession over these small but vibrantly exquisite birds that are often seen as you drive round the more open savannah.  I think it was pretty reasonable…
